It is with great pleasure that we announce the Fall 2013 participants in the Zesty Incubator @ USD. We looked for businesses in cool markets where lots was happening. Also, we wanted business owners who understood the unique value that the USD students can bring to their businesses, especially in regards to their savvy understanding of the Web. Finally, we wanted some variety in terms of products and services. Here's what we selected.
Co-Merge - A dynamic shared workspace known for a strong culture and local community feel, Co-Merge provides a diverse array of services in a fabulously designed space. Located in downtown San Diego, members can take advantage of office space, conference rooms, and event spaces for networking, training, and seminar purposes. Co-Merge is at the forefront of the share workspace movement, and we're thrilled that the students will have a chance to
Green Startup Institute - The Green Startup Institute will train green entrepreneurs and provide unique programs for baby boomers who wish to start green businesses. As the newest project from policy expert Kathleen M. Connell, The Green Startup Institute will train green entrepreneurs and provide unique programs for baby boomers who wish to start green businesses. Ms. Connell has had an impressive career from serving as the Policy and Congressional Advisor to NASA HQ to serving as Founding Policy Director of the Aerospace States Association. We think she'll have a lot to teach the students, and are exicited that she think
Lety’s Natural Beauty - If you haven't noticed, natural beauty products is a hot and growing market. The USD students will have a chance to shape the brand, marketing, and web presence of the new Lety's Natural Beauty line. This product is all natural, using non-allergetic ingredients. The brand goals of the product are to enrich its customers' lives through the use of the product, and the students will be challenged to convey that message online.
Grandad’s Old Fashioned Pomade - Balancing out the female Lety's Natural Beauty line, we also have a product line for men: a pomade that's handcrafted and uses traditional formulas. It has an amazing look. It now just needs a website that captures its unique branding.
Ivy League Maids - We couldn't resist this one! It's a cleaning service that was started by Jamie Alder, a student who needed to make money. The business is now booming and expanding. As it grows, it remains committed to the dream that got it started: Ivy League Maids will stay committed to hiring other students.
Congratulations to the owners of these businesses. We look forward to sharing what the students create. And don't forget, we will be running an online voting cotest for the most popular website winners.
